The Chapin Junior Woman’s Club held its second annual fundraiser on Saturday, October 24.  The Denim & Pearls Oyster Roast was an evening of food, music, and fun for the purpose of raising funds for the HUB.

The HUB is a community center located in Chapin that provides after-school tutoring, mentoring, and scouts for elementary and secondary school-aged children.  These students receive homework assistance and a nutritious afternoon snack.

The funds raised at the Denim & Pearls Oyster Roast will be used to help furnish and decorate the building to make it a comfortable and inviting place for the children and the community it serves.  The Chapin Junior Woman’s Club will work closely with the Board of the HUB to ensure that as many needs are addressed as possible.

The Chapin Junior Woman’s Club would like to thank all who attended, sponsored and donated prizes to make this year’s event a success.

CJWC was proud to team up with The CHS Student Government during the spring & summer of 2016 to renovate THE HUB.  This facility offers after school care for younger kids to receive snacks, tutoring, activities, etc. until their parents are home from work.

Our Oyster Roast in November 2014 was a tremendous success!!  At our December meeting, we had the honor of presenting checks to Christgate and to Chapin We Care. We thank our sponsors and those who attended for helping us exceed our goals for our first fundraiser!

Thank you to the Sponsors of our 2014 Oyster Roast!

The Chapin Junior Woman's Club kicked off on January 14, 2014. In its first year, CJWC members donated 320 lbs. of food to Chapin We Care, 18 hours of service to the District 5 Snack Pack program, 28 hours of service to Chapin Community Service Day, and 23 items of paper products to Christgate. CJWC's first fundraiser was an Oyster Roast held in November 2014 which raised $700 for Chapin We Care and $3000 for Christgate. As of January 2015, CJWC has 67 members.

In celebration of CJWC's one-year anniversary, representatives from the General Federation of Women's Clubs of South Carolina attended the January meeting to present the Chapin Junior Woman’s Club Charter and install the Club's members and officers. Janet Prince, GFWC-SC 1st VP of Membership, presented the charter to Lisa Minges, CJWC President. Afterwards, the members stood for their induction and the officers approached the front to take their oath to represent the Club. On hand to help with the evening's activities and to speak to the group were Caroline Mahaffey, GFWC-SC President; Jill Holt, Midlands District President; and Katie Moydell, Director of Junior Clubs. Members of the Chapin Woman's Club attended as well.

Already planning for more service projects and the Second Annual Oyster Roast in the fall, Chapin Junior Woman's Club is looking forward to serving Chapin even more in 2015!
